Adaptability Equals New Opportunities for Kneaded

2721

Over Easter weekend one entrepreneur was thinking “outside the basket” on how to contribute positivity to the community while still selling her baked goods. Kimberly Nader was excited to host her pop-up shop in front of Immaculate Conception church this past Saturday on West Main street in Ravenna. So much so that she had been up since midnight designing her new sign and preparing for the day ahead.

Due to the current economic climate, we have all had to shift our mind-set and become much more flexible in our daily lives. Many of the events Kimberly regularly attends have been postponed or canceled. The diner that sold her goods no longer can because of the pandemic. Another issue impacting business is finding standard products such as yeast and flour; she must first call the stores to check that they have what she needs.

Her cakes are a tasty ray of sunshine on a cloudy day that just cannot be hidden away. So, in an effort to be productive and accommodating to the social changes happening, over the last several weeks, she has been stationing her pop-up shop selling her breads and confections of all kinds for an extremely reasonable cost outside the church. She can maintain a distance while still earning a living and making you smile. A little smile can go on for miles and we all need that right now!

Why go to a store and be near crowds when it is not necessary?

Traditional Challah bread, Chocolate cherry cakes, strawberry cream cobbler, Easter cupcakes and Apple strudel were just a few of the deliciously eye-widening pastries for sale. “Why go to a store and be near crowds when it is not necessary,” she said. Kimberly will even deliver products right to your front door without you ever having to leave your house. “You may not be able to have your Grandmother’s pie for Easter dinner, but it is nice to still have something that is homemade especially now.”

Kimberly explained while ,yes, you can order many things through the mail you just don’t know how many hands it has encountered. If you purchase directly from her, you know only her hands — from a highly sanitized kitchen — have touched it, which equals limited contact.

She and husband, John Nader, who is the music director for Immaculate Conception, set up early in front of the church and stayed all day through the weird weather of wind and sun. It was a successful venture as John explained they started off with two tables full of over 100 items and were almost completely sold out by 3 o’clock. The Easter Bunny has nothing on this dynamic duo as they pre-made Easter Baskets overflowing with breads, cupcakes, and jellies which were also gone by the end of the day.

Kimberly ran a buy-one-get-one sale on jams and jellies because she is excited about a new canning season. She creates unique and fun flavors like Rootbeer, Dr. Pepper, Orange Creamsicle and carrot cake jam just to a name of the few of the fun flavors.

Checkout Kneaded Breads and Confections on Facebook to see when the next pop-up shop is and to place an order. Currently, they have been held on a weekday and one weekend day from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Immaculate Conception church. Keep a look out for their new website, due to hit the internet in a few weeks. It is currently in progress.
