Reverse Raffle At St. Ambrose Church
February 15
The St. Ambrose Church is holding their first Reverse Raffle on February 15, 2020 at Sugar Bush Golf Club -proceeds to benefit the church improvement fund. Doors open at 6pm and a catered, Prime Rib dinner will be provided by Eisele Catering. There will be dancing available by DJ, Jason Adkins and a cash bar. The grand prize is $1,000 with random numbers also winning other prizes. The cost of admission is $100 (no credit cards accepted) and includes two meals, and one reverse raffle number. Tickets may be purchased at The Villager Emporium (The Villager) on Main Street or after the 11:00 Sunday mass at St. Ambrose Church. Only 74 tickets are available for purchase and the last ticket will be raffled off the night of the event. There will also be side boards, a Chinese auction and a 50/50 raffle. Please note: Tickets 1-40 are available at The Villager and 41-75 are available after the 11 am, Sunday mass at St. Ambrose Church.

The Portage County Senior Center, located at 705 Oakwood St., in Ravenna has many daily opportunities for local seniors to enjoy. On any given day, you can enjoy, bingo, Tai Chi, educational programs, art class, corn hole, cards & dominos with friends, and they even have a pool table. This month’s topic is courtesy of our County Officials who will bring a consolidated version of their very popular “Good Deeds” program to our seniors. County Recorder Lori Calcei, along with County Clerk of Courts Jill Fankhauser and Judge Berger will be there to discuss how to take care of estate matters in order to minimize the probate process. The Portage County Senior Center will host a “Pre-Super Bowl” party on Wednesday, January 29th. Before the festivities begin, the day will start with a short educational program on “Winter Blues” at 9:30, courtesy of Greenhouse Mental Healthcare. The seniors will then enjoy a friendly game of bingo and afterwards will be treated to a soup/chili cook-off courtesy of Heartland of Twinsburg and Hospice of the Western Reserve. There will be many varieties to choose from and winners will be selected by the seniors. The Senior Center will cook up a few other surprises and all are asked to wear their favorite football attire. Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser

A benefit spaghetti dinner is being held on Feb 8 from 4-7 pm at the Garrettsville Eagles Club in honor of Stacy Needs Steerman. Stacy is a single mom and recently underwent emergency open heart surgery. All proceeds from this dinner and raffle will go to Stacy to help defray medical costs and help her while she is off work recovering. The cost is $7.00 for a spaghetti dinner with rolls and a salad and entry into a special drawing. There will also be a 50/50 raffle, a cash bar and baskets of different sorts to raffle off.
