Farmington Senior Center Breakfasts

Loaves  and Fishes Community Meal

Free meal is open to all residents in Mantua,Hiram,Garrettsville and surrounding areas.  Anyone who needs to stretch their food dollars or even if you just love a homemade meal.  You are cordially invited to come eat and enjoy some fellowship. This meal is from 5-6:30 pm, the LAST Thursday of each month at Mantua Center Christian Church. 4118 S.R.82.

JA Garfield Historical Society 

First Saturday of Month

The James A Garfield Historical Society will be open on the first Saturday of the month. Our winter hours are from 10 am to 12 noon for the months of December, January and February. Appointments to visit the buildings at other times may be made by calling Debbie Smith at 330-389-1859.

If you’re looking to do your holiday shopping early, Shalersville Historical Society can help!  Our 2022 Century Homes calendars are available for a $15.00 donation and they make a marvelous gift.  This calendar features pictures of 12 century homes in the township plus a brief description or interesting story of each.  These picturesque and informative calendars will be available at our December 2 Christmas potluck and at our Open House December 5 at the museum at the intersection of  303 & 44.  In the meantime, you can contact Judy Richardson 330.389.0598 or Judy Thornton 330.527.7669 and we’ll make arrangements to deliver yours.  If you live out of the county, these calendars can be mailed to you.

Hiram Farm Craft Sale

We are Hiram Farm, which is a non-profit organization for adults with Autism. We are having a craft sale December 1st-4th 10A.M. to 3P.M. Come check out our handmade soaps, ceramics, and ornaments. We also have beef and pork available.

SHS Christmas Potluck Dinner

Circle Thursday, December 2 on your calendar.  Shalersville Historical Society will host its annual Christmas potluck for our friends, relatives and community members. This is always a delightful evening sharing good food and fellowship with friends.  PLEASE NOTE THE NEW LOCATION THIS YEAR:  because of COVID the potluck will be held at the SHALERSVILLE TOWN HALL with dinner beginning at 6 PM.  This new location will enable guests to social distance if they so desire.  Please bring a covered dish to share.  Paper products, tableware and beverages will be provided.  Direct any questions to Judy Richardson 330.389.0598.  We hope you’ll join us for this festive event

Breakfast With Santa

Parkman Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring Breakfast with Santa on Saturday, December 4th from 8:30 to 10:00 a.m. at the Parkman Community House (16295 St. Rt. 422).  Bring a camera and take your child’s picture with Santa Claus.  You can then enjoy a delicious breakfast of scrambled eggs, sausage & pancakes.  Kids eat for only $3.00 each and $5.00 each for accompanying adults. Lions Club Plastic Drive

The Windham Lions will be hosting a plastic drive thru drop-off collection on Saturday, December 4th, at the Windham United Methodist Church parking lot from 10am-12:00noon.  The drive thru will take place the first Saturday of the next 5 months. We will be collecting ONLY soft plastics…grocery bags, bread bags, bubble wrap, dry cleaning bags, newspaper bags, ice bags, plastics shipping envelopes, produce bags, salt bags, cases of water/paper towels/toilet paper overwrap, zip lock and other re-closable food storage bags. All plastic must be clean, dry and free of food residue.  Any questions or to make other arrangements for pick up: Please contact Lion Mary at 330-245-6889. For every 500/lbs collected, The Lions will receive a TREX composite outdoor bench to be placed in a public space in Windham.

OWM Craft Bazaar

The annual OWM Craft Bazaar, sponsored by the Ohio Women’s Ministry of Mantua Center Christian Church, will be held Saturday, December 4, 2021, 10am to 4pm at the Mantua Center School, 11741 Mantua Center Rd, Mantua. Free Fairy Light Jar Craft

Windham Library invites patrons to visit and “Take & Make” a Fairy Light Jar from December 6 through December 17, available during library service hours. Ravenna Christmas Walk

The Portage County Historical Society located at 6549 North Chestnut Street, Ravenna, is hosting a Christmas Walk on Dec 11 from 4-7 pm.  Donation $10/person or $20 family. There will be lights, tours, music, refreshments, door prizes, raffle and history.  Presale tickets available at Susie K’s Cafe adn Main Street Winery.

Cookies with Santa

Cookies with Santa will be held on Saturday, December 11, 2021 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Freedom Townhall, 8966 St. Rt. 700 (intersections of St. Rt. 88/700/303). Come join us for cookies with Freedom’s very own Santa. Enjoy some hot chocolate, cider and cookies while mingling with Santa. A craft and goodie bag (limited quantity) available for the kids. Get your picture taken as well. Bring a canned good or non-perishable item for the Garrettsville Nelson Food Cupboard. This is a free event and open to everyone of all ages. Friendly Squares Christmas Dinner Dance

The Friendly Squares will host their Christmas Dance, Saturday, December 11th at the Niles SCOPE Center, 14 E. State St., Niles, Ohio. Square dancing will begin at 7:30 and continue until 10:00 p.m. Gene Hammond and Neil Harner will be the callers and Frankie Hammond will be cuing the line dances. This will be a High/Low dance with alternating tips for new dancers currently taking lessons and tips for more experienced dancers. Dress is casual. There is a $6.00 donation per person at the door.
