Shalersville – Calling all people from Shalersville who have or are serving in the United States military. The museum will be open to the public Memorial Day weekend & will feature a display of military uniforms, flags, pictures and stories of our service men and women. If you have a photo of a serviceman, please consider loaning it for that weekend. Call Judy @ 330.389.0598 & leave a message. She’ll return your call. Judy would need the pictures by May 20 for them to be included in the display. I personally visited last year and the display was very impressive!

The next general meeting will be Thursday, May 4 at the museum, 9154 St Rt 44, at 7 PM. Meetings are open to the public. There are a few 2023 calendars of Shalersville Historical businesses available. This may be your last chance to learn about the Youngblood celery farm, or the hotels in Shalersville, or the saw mills or cider mill or Harper Well & Pump or Stamm Contracting. Calendars are available when the museum is open or by calling Judy @ 330.389.0598

Shalersville, Freedom & Mantua Historical Societies will be hosting two very special programs this summer. These programs are free and open to the public; both will be held at the Shalersville Town Hall beginning at 7PM. The first, on Tuesday June 13, will be a presentation about General and President Eisenhower and his wife Mamie. Veterans are especially encouraged to attend. The second is Tuesday, July 11 and features Charles Ohlin, director of education at the National Packard Museum. His power point will highlight the 1907 transcontinental journey of a Warren-built Packard car. More information will be forthcoming closer to the actual dates of the programs.
