With Valentine’s Day last weekend, it feels fitting to reflect on our relationship with money—and how it supports the life we want to live.
In retirement planning, there’s a common paradox: while money is essential, it is not the same as wealth. True wealth includes health, relationships, purpose, time, and peace of mind. In fact, the pursuit of money alone can sometimes detract from these things rather than enhance them—by increasing stress, limiting time with loved ones, or pushing meaningful goals further into the future.
That’s why I believe finances should expand into life planning. The goal isn’t just to have enough money in retirement, but to ensure your money supports the life you want—rather than defining it.
When we broaden the conversation this way, financial decisions become clearer and more grounded. Saving, investing, and spending take on purpose. Money becomes a supportive partner in your life—rather than the driver of it.
My wish for you is balance: enough financial security to feel confident about the future, and enough perspective to ensure that wealth, in its fullest sense, is at the center of your planning.
If you’d like to revisit how your financial strategy aligns with the life you want to live—now and in retirement—I would welcome the opportunity to have that conversation with you.
