Looking for the latest new release from your favorite author? Need a hot spot to connect at home or on the road? What about a DVD for movie night? You can find all those things and more at your new and improved Garrettsville Library!

As you may have heard, the library was closed for much of January for renovation. Now, it’s open and ready for your visit. The walls have been painted in shades of blue to brighten the space, and the bookshelves have been modified, making the library feel more spacious.

Upon entering the space, quite a few library patrons have stopped to wipe their feet, not wanting to track salt or slush on the updated carpeting.

In the adult and young adult section, the Reference Desk has been enlarged, providing more workstations for Adult and Young Adult librarians to assist patrons and implement programs. The new paint and carpeting continue in the computer lab and Children’s room, creating a welcoming space for Storytime programs, or just for hanging out with your favorite littles.

Are you looking for a quiet place to read or study? A four-seat booth in the teen area is a great choice, right next to a large window that overlooks the playground. Tables are also nestled near the front windows, providing natural light and a quiet place to read or work, without the expectation of purchasing anything.

In addition to books, magazines, and DVDs, your PCDL library card provides access to museum passes, unlocks ebooks, audiobooks, TV shows, movies, concerts and even a host of craft and hobby tutorials – all at no cost to you.

And new this month, PCDL has introduced six types of Sensory Kits to borrow. Themes include movement, emotions, relaxation, and focus. These specially designed kits are ideal for individuals with sensory processing issues, aged three and up.

Your library also offers a computer lab for your use – with or without a library card.

Copies are available for a small fee, faxes and scans are available at no charge. Several charging stations give you the opportunity to charge your phone or device in case your battery is running low. Meeting rooms are also available when not in use for library programs – call your local branch to find out more.

In addition to the Garrettsville Library, Portage County District Library has branches, express boxes, and Bookmobile stops throughout Portage County. For more information on locations, programs, and the variety of items available to borrow, visit portagelibrary.org.
