James A. Garfield High School’s technology students are making a difference in the community by offering tech support to local senior citizens. As part of an ongoing initiative, these students have dedicated their time and expertise to helping seniors navigate the digital world, assisting with smartphones, tablets, and computers.
The final tech support event of the school year will take place on April 8th from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM at the Garrettsville Library. During this session, seniors will have the opportunity to receive one-on-one assistance from knowledgeable students who can troubleshoot issues, answer questions, and provide guidance on using their devices more effectively.
“It’s been a rewarding experience for both our students and the seniors,” said Sherry Timm,”The students gain valuable hands-on experience while the seniors leave feeling more confident using technology in their daily lives.”
This initiative has been well received by the community, with many seniors expressing gratitude for the patient and friendly assistance they receive. Whether it’s learning how to send emails, set up video calls with family, or manage apps on their devices, participants walk away with new skills and greater digital independence.
