Holidays In The Falls

1324

Newton Falls – The weather has changed, likely for the duration. The leaves have fallen. The skies have become gray and every day is a bit shorter. Yep, welcome to late autumn in Ohio, where we are on a crash course with winter. We know it is coming, we even have dug out The Big Coat, but don’t despair! Newton Falls has your back! Between Newton Falls Area Commerce Association (NFACA), 44444 The People and the Village of Newton Falls, the season has plenty of highlights.

The Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony, organized by NFACA, kicks off the season. NFACA President Katie McClain, the Newton Falls Agent for Hostetler Insurance, took some time from her very busy calendar to outline the evening. This will be held at the Four Corners Park on the corner of W. Broad and Center St.
On November 26, 2002 the Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony will commence at 5:30 pm. There will be a performance by both the New Wave Dance Company and the Platinum Dance Company. You can find out more about these wonderful schools of dance by visiting their social media pages; New Wave Dance Company on Facebook, and platinumdance.wixsite.com/platinumdanceco on the web. Give them a like while you’re there! The performances will be followed by a quick word from Mayor Ken Kline. AMVETS will be hosting Santa and Mrs. Claus from the comfort of their building. Rick Kerlin and Carol Baker will portray the famous pair, with Shirly Rayburn of AMVETS hosting. Hometown hero Jack Kucek, of Chicago White Socks fame, will be the event emcee. National Honor Society students will be volunteering throughout the event.

Are you getting a little more cheerful? As the ads on TV say, But Wait, There’s More! Remember the Newton Falls Community Center, which used to be a hub of community events? This rare relic of a bygone era is back for the 44444 Community… it will be the hub for Christmas in the Village and Breakfast with Santa!

Christmas in the Village Craft and Vendor Event will take place at the Community Center, 52 E. Quarry Street, from 10:00am to 5:00pm. The building will be decked in all the Holiday décor, (not sure about boughs of Holly, I’ll ask her…) As one enters the center, there are rooms off to the side. In one room will be FWD Ministries with activities for the youngsters. For more information about them, visit https://myfwdchurch.com – get to know them and all they do for the community. Another side room will be children’s activities lead by Tiny Tots Tigers Preschool. Check them out on Facebook at Tiny Tots Tigers Preschool and Daycare-Newton Falls. The National Honors Society will have student volunteers to make your visit easier and more enjoyable. The Newton Falls Public Library will be hosting stories by the fireplace in the lobby. Sounds fun and cozy!

There will be a host of local businesses in rows in the ballroom. This is really where you see Newton Falls businesses and organizations helping each other out! 44444The People will have raffle baskets for Breakfast with Santa lining the walls. What an opportunity for you; socialize, shop and support the local community. As you wander the vendor aisles, there will be a variety of entertainment on that beautiful stage.

If after those two events you are still saying Humbug, perhaps the BMOC (Big Man of Christmas) himself could cheer you up! Please join Santa and the Elves for Breakfast with Santa. This event will be back at the Community Center on December 10 from 9:00am to 12:00pm.

With rising inflation, this breakfast is a great deal! The cost is $10.00 for adults, $5.00 for children and Under 3 are free. That modest price will get you a breakfast feast; scrambled eggs, bacon/ sausage, French toast/pancakes and a beverage! Meals will be provided through Broad Street Station. Thanks, Pam!
Activities will be available for the kids. Don’t forget your picture with Santa! Patti Hanzes of 44444 The People and NFACA has insured that there will be over 150 Toy Raffle Baskets. Somewhere in all of these baskets, 5 tablets and 2 firesticks will be hidden. Tickets are $10.00 a sheet.

With such a wonderful series of Holiday Events, let’s get to know our hosts a bit better. NFACA is a non- profit organization made up of local business and organizations that support the 44444 community. They hold many events throughout the year, always seeking to make Newton Falls a destination. Though the membership is large, the leadership is comprised of; Katie McClain as President, Patti Hanzes as Vice President, Laure Neiheisel as Secretary and Nicholas Kepich as Treasurer.

44444The People is a 501C3 nonprofit, their mission is to help those in need in the 44444 community. Leadership of this charity is composed of 5 Trustees; Patti Hanzes (president,) Deborah Earl, Gabby Klein, Laura Neiheisel and Rick Kerlin. There are many volunteers to this group.
So, no Humbugs here! See you at Holidays in the Falls!
