A cold and windy day did not deter the Crestwood Red Devils girls’ and the Streetsboro boys’ track team from enjoying a strong day at the Lakeview Invitational last Saturday in Cortland. The Crestwood girls finished as runners-up by scoring 80 points and the Rocket boys took third place with 88 points.

“It was good to see the kids compete and go out and play against some good competition,” said Crestwood boys’ Coach Jack Blasiole, who coached the girls on Saturday because Coach Maria Conant was unavailable. “It took a group effort from all of the girls that competed on Saturday because I do not think we had one first place finish.”

Freshman Livia Martini finished as the runner-up in the 100-meter dash, clocking a time of 13.07 seconds, followed by junior Audrey Fusci who came in eighth place with a time of 14.37 seconds.

Fusci then placed fourth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 29.32 seconds.

Fusci followed up by coming in fourth place in the 400-meter dash, stopping the clock at 1:06.95.

Martini came in second place in the long jump with a distance of 15 feet, 6½ inches.

“Liv is phenomenal,” noted the first-year coach. “She is going to be in the top two in every event she does this year in the 200-meter dash, the 400-meter dash, the 4×100 relay, the 4×400 relay and the long jump. She will score a lot of points.”

Senior Lilly O’Bryant snagged fourth place in the shot put, throwing32 feet, 2¾ inches.

Sophomore Madison Sheridan earned fifth place in the discus throw, throwing 88 feet, five inches.

On the boys’ side, the Rocket boys secured third place, finishing only two points away from overtaking McDonald.

“We gained a lot of insight into our athletes and where we stand right now,” said Streetsboro boys’ coach Robb Kidd. “It was a grueling week having three meets in five days so our kids were a little worn down and hopefully they are getting some rest now.”

Senior Garrett Tiller won the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.33 seconds.

“Garrett has been looking phenomenal in our sprints,” said the fifth-year coach. “He won the 100-meter dash and anchored a few of our relays and he was down because he did not get a lot of sleep and he was one of our kids that was trying to grit through it but he looked phenomenal”

Tiller then came in second place in the 200-meter dash, clocking 23.32 seconds followed by senior Kylan Rue, who snagged fourth with a time of 24.17 seconds.
