Beginning with the August 14 edition of The Weekly Villager, readers will notice a change in how they receive their weekly newspaper.
The Villager will continue to be published every week, but beginning in August, we will alternate between print and digital editions:
• 1st and 3rd weeks of the month: Digital Edition
• 2nd and 4th weeks of the month: Print Edition
This decision was not made lightly. Like many newspapers, The Villager has faced significant increases in the cost of newsprint and other publishing expenses. We have worked hard to absorb those increases while continuing to provide our readers with the local news, community stories, events and information they have come to rely on.
Unfortunately, continuing to print a full newspaper every week is no longer financially sustainable without making significant changes.
While the format is changing, our commitment to local journalism is not.
The Villager will still bring you local stories every week. On digital weeks, readers will be able to access the newspaper online, allowing us to continue providing timely coverage while reducing the costs associated with producing a printed edition every week.
We are also excited about the growing number of readers who already follow The Villager online. Our digital presence allows us to reach readers not only throughout our local communities, but also those who have moved away and still want to keep up with what is happening back home.
