NGCC Goes from “Zero to 100” with help of local donors

Garrettsville – Last spring NGCC presented a challenge to the community. If they were able to secure 100 recurring monthly donations of just $5 each they would be able to purchase a van and expand their services to include delivery for those in need.

A call was made to the community, and it was answered! In just four short weeks NGCC secured 118 donors. A few short weeks later, and NGCC was shopping for a delivery van.

NGCC approached Charles Auto Family about searching for a van that would suit their needs, but they struggled to find one at their budget. What complicated the process was the market for used vehicles. The white delivery vans that were easy to come by in 2020, like most quality used vehicles, were in scarce supply now. This scarcity also drove up the cost of used vehicles. Vans on the market were either heavy on the price tag or light on the quality.

In mid summer the folks at Charles Auto Family presented NGCC a van that was exactly what they were looking for but about 15% over budget. Knowing the challenge presented by NGCC and accepted by a community of donors, Cheryl and Bruce Abraham personally made up the cost difference so food deliveries could begin.

Due to the generosity of the Abraham family and each of our Zero to 100 donors, NGCC has now completed two months of home food deliveries!

If you need food or know of a family who may benefit from the services of NGCC please contact them at 330-527-2011.

Upcoming distribution dates are November 10 from 9 am to 11:30 am; December 6 from 3 pm – 5:30 pm and December 15 from 9 am to 11:30 am at 8233 Park Avenue, Garrettsville.  Home distribution is available by contacting NGCC at 330-527-2011.
