Jeffrey A. Lysiak, 38, passed away December 24, 2022.

Jeff would like you to know that his work is now complete. He was a tireless worker, and if you are reading this, Jeff’s work touched you at some point along your journey.

Jeff grew up in the Portage Lakes and graduated from Coventry High School in 2003. He attended Kent State University and the University of Akron earning degrees in education and education administration respectively. Jeff worked as a teacher and assistant principal for the Akron City Schools and was one of the founding principals of the I Promise School. He was a true champion for children throughout his years working at Akron.

Jeff loved being outside. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He could often be found in a boat on the Portage Lakes or at a small pond with poles and tackle. Where there was water and fish you would find Jeff. In the fall, when fishing slowed, you could find Jeff in the deer woods. While not the best of shot, he made his fair share of memories, celebrated in the harvests of others and even filled his freezer many seasons.

In the time between fishing and hunting you could find Jeff working to beautify the homes of others. Like Forrest Gump, he loved to mow. Often his mowing jobs would blossom into full-blown landscaping jobs. Jeff had a God-given talent for making a yard look spectacular.

Jeff loved only two things more than being outside. The first was his family. He gave everything to the family that created him as well as to the family he created himself. Jeff gave of his time without question for any family member. If there was mulch to be spread, trees to fell or landscaping to beautify, Jeff offered his time with a precious smile and made you feel like your job was the only one he cared about.
The second thing Jeff loved more than being outside was being a father. He was a model of loyalty to his wife, Megan, and his three boys – Jensen (8), Cooper (6) and Theo (4). He worked so hard in all that he did so the family he created with Megan could have what they desired. Whatever Megan or the boys wanted, he provided, but the most important and consistent present to them was his presence. Jeff was a model of love and devotion to his family.

Anyone he worked for is a better person having known him. He taught us how to love, how to heal, how to care and how to give.

Jeff’s work is complete. He has taken a new, much higher position that was simply impossible to refuse. Worry not though his desire to help others will continue.

Jeff is preceded in death by grandparents Tom & Charlotte Krynicki and Virginia Lysiak. Jeff is survived by his Dzadzi Ted E. Lysiak, parents Ted & Robin Lysiak, sister Renee (Brandon) Reedy, brothers Brian (Penney) Lysiak and Ted (Maria) Lysiak, nephews Austin & Colin Lysiak, Drew, Dylan and Carson Boothe, nieces Haley & Kara Reedy and Chloe Boothe, loving wife, Megan Lysiak and beloved sons Jensen, Cooper and Theo.
