Grow Beauty That Gives Back

1002

With spring being the perfect time to dig into something new and meaningful in your own backyard, Geauga Park District invites plant enthusiasts, gardeners and curious beginners alike to attend Native Wildflower Gardening on Saturday, May 9.

Led by Naturalist Karie Wheaton at Big Creek Park’s Meyer Center from 1 to 2 p.m., this informative program will explore the many benefits of planting native wildflowers, from supporting pollinators like bees and butterflies to creating more resilient, low-maintenance landscapes. Participants will also learn about some favorite native species well-suited to Northeast Ohio and where to find them locally for purchase. “Some of my favorite native plants are milkweed (of course), wild bergamot, golden Alexander and cup plant,” said Naturalist Karie, adding, “I could keep going!”

Whether you’re starting a garden from scratch or simply looking to enhance your existing landscape, this program promises practical tips and inspiration to help you grow with purpose. Questions may be asked at the program or sent in advance to kwheaton@geaugaparkdistrict.org. No registration is required, and the facility is both wheelchair and stroller accessible. For more information, visit www.geaugaparkdistrict.org or call 440-286-9516.
