That’s what we’re all going to be able to do real soon now, doggone it. Here’s the skinny : Duke’s K9 Dash N’ Splash at 6948 State Route 303 ,Windham, OH, 44288–in case you want to find it with your phone–it’s in Freedom Township, between Freedom Center and Drakesburg, is getting ready to open up, any day now.
You will be able to : swim with your dog, teach your dog how to swim (Dog-paddle, anyone?), do therapy swims or low impact exercise, learn to dock dive, try a new dock diving discipline, have fun playing in a clean, safe, fenced area, attend beginner and advanced workshops, compete in dock diving (the dog, not you). They offer private, beginner and practice sessions, have several national competitions throughout the season, dock diving classes and Open Dock Days when the community shares the facility and no appointment is needed. It is Northeast Ohio’s only Dock Diving facility and outdoor pool built specifically for dogs. This includes a 40’x20’x4’ above ground heated doggie swimming pool, a 40’x8’ dock, completely fenced in for your dog’s safety.
Duke’s K9 Dash N’ Splash is a sanctioned North America Diving Dog Facility. They host 4 national dock diving competitions each Summer, one of which is a qualifier to the AKC National Championship. Competitors from all around the country can come to win prizes, ribbons and even titles for their dogs. Spectators are welcome; admission is free. Competitions are open to all dogs, regardless of breed or experience.
Non-competition sessions are by appointment only; check the calendar for available times. Check out their website for the competition schedule and other dog-friendly community events. Information on hours of operation and pricing are available there as well. Reserve a private session if you’d like to get into teaching your old dogs (or yourself) new tricks.
While Duke’s has been in business for four years, a grand opening celebration will be held in conjunction with their already scheduled Triathlon of Try Its on June 19th!! Bring your family, bring your friends, bring your neighbors, and of course, all the dogs!!!
