The Crestwood Community Center (CCC) will once again begin meeting the Marty Hura Lodge in Buchert Park on Wednesday, July 1st. That day, CCC members and other interested parties are encouraged to bring a dish to share and enjoy a potluck picnic at noon. And don’t forget that the Portage County District Library Bookmobile visits the park each Wednesday from 12:30 – 2:30 pm, so make sure to stop by to return your books and check out something new.
The group also plans to enjoy a few cultural events this summer. On July 7th at 8 pm, they’ll take in “Side Show” and on August 1st at 2 pm they’ll see “Brigadoon”, both at the Porthouse Theater (3143 O’Neil Rd., Cuyahoga Falls). There’s a limit of two free tickets per person per show, so reach out to Crestwoodcommunitycenter@gmail.com or 234-973-8863 to save your spot. Then, on August 13th, the CCC will be headed to Cleveland’s Playhouse Square to see the “Lion King” on August 13th. Reach out for more information on how you can attend this amazing performance.
On Fridays, July 9th and August 14th, the readers in the CCC will meet at 10 am for Book Club in the upper room at Jake’s restaurant. The July title is “Nosy Neighbors” by Freya Sampson, and the August title is “The Husbands” by Holly Gramazio. If you’re looking to read and discuss books that inspire and promote connection, then you’ll want to stop by and give book club a chance.
On Wednesday, July 29th at noon, the CCC will provide BBQ for lunch – just bring your favorite side to share. Make sure to RSVP to Crestwoodcommunitycenter@gmail.com or 234-973-8863 to make sure you’re accounted for. On Wednesday, August 21st, the CCC will meet at Sunny Lake from 11 am until 2 pm. A free lunch will be provided by PSSN; if you plan to attend, you’ll need to RSVP to CCC in advance.
On Fridays, July 24th and August 28th from 4-7 pm, CCC will host a bake sale table at Mantua Farmers & Makers Market. And on Wednesday, August 12th, the CCC will host a soft opening at their new meeting space at Crestwood’s Central Offices (10880 John Edward Drive) in Mantua. Then, on Wednesday, September 1st they’ll host a grand relocation celebration.
The CCC is growing, and help is needed to manage the expanding programs. Opportunities exist on the following committees: Publicity, Fundraising, and Technology. Each committee includes one board member, so you won’t be working alone. For more information, contact CrestwoodCommunityCenter@gmail.com.
