G-H Rotary Report

340

The June 29, 2026 meeting of the Garrettsville-Hiram Rotary covered a range of interests, opening with a party ( Oh, those Rotarians, always “Out there”). The public celebration of 100 years birthday party will be held at the South Street (Bill Phelps) Park on July 26 and everyone is invited. There will be picnic food–hot dogs, chips, cookies, etc–and a visit by the Cowboy Creamery truck. Y’all come now.

The bridge abutment mural has run into some paint issues despite the best efforts of the muralist. Benjamin Moore Paints Co. is consulting; special formulas are involved. The Reverse Raffle planning is in full swing; prices should be remaining near the same. Sponsors–large or small–are being sought. Tickets will go on sale when all of the financials are set. Storybook Trail (an adjunct of the Tom Collins Memorial Rotary Walking Trail at the South Street Park) story markers are going up. Anyone wishing to contribute should contact the Garrettsville branch of the Portage County District Library or a GHR member; individual dedications are available. There will be a sign going up at the trail entrance.

District 6630 night with the Cleveland Guardians is coming up on August 19; it will be coinciding with “End Polio Now” Night–a Rotary International challenge. The district is also pursuing a tree-planting effort–clubs or individuals–here in northeast Ohio. The RYLA(Rotary Youth Leadership Award) banquet held recently after the week-long program at Hiram College was enjoyed by participants.

Happy Bucks came in for a stint at babysitting, a good weekend, a great grandson (cutest ever), the tractor parade, the new amphitheater, and a good weekend.

It’s all good.
