You’ve Got More Capacity Than You Think

As fall settles in, many of us turn our attention to seasonal routines—clearing the yard, checking the gutters, bringing in the plants before the first frost. It’s a time to take stock, to clear out what’s finished and make room for what still holds promise.

Any seasoned gardener knows that once a plant outgrows its container, its roots stop spreading and its growth slows. To thrive again, it needs space—more capacity. The same principle plays out in personal finance. Often, it’s not income or market performance that holds us back—it’s the limits we quietly adopt in our own thinking.

As this new season takes shape, I encourage you to question those limits. Don’t let old habits or today’s headlines define your outlook. Give yourself permission to think bigger and make the adjustments that help your financial life continue to grow.

If you’d like to review your plans for the coming year, now is an ideal time. With open enrollment underway, continued government gridlock, and a newly announced 2.8% Social Security COLA for 2026, there’s plenty worth discussing. Expanding your capacity often begins with an honest conversation.
