John “Dave” D. Finney, 70, of Nelson Twp., OH, went home to his Lord and Savior Thursday, August 28, 2025, after living with Parkinson’s Disease for over 16 years. He was born December 15, 1954, in Ravenna, OH, to the late John K. and Hazel (nee Danielson) Finney.

He was a lifelong Nelson Twp. resident and was proud of the fact that he lived on State Route 305 his whole life. Dave graduated from James A. Garfield High School in 1973.  He met the love of his life, Brianne Randall, who was a fellow Nelson Twp. resident, and they married November 17, 1979.  Dave excelled as a special fixture machinist and owned his own company, which was J.D. Finney Enterprises.  Dave was proud to give back to his community by serving as a Nelson Twp. Trustee and Fiscal Officer. A devoted man, he belonged to the Garrettsville and Nelson Methodist Churches for many, many years. Dave enjoyed the simple things in life: Farming, making, baling, and delivering hay with his father-in-law, John Deere tractors, spending time with his wife, family, and friends, and above all else, serving his community and the Lord.

Dave will deeply be missed by his loving wife, Brianne Finney; brother, Richard (Doretha “Dee”) Finney, and many extended family members and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his parents-in-law, Garland “Bill” and Corolyn Randall.

Please join the family for a visitation on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., at Mallory-DeHaven-Carlson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 8382 Center St., Garrettsville, OH 44231.
