Braving the tropical heat, G-H Rotary met in the Renaissance Center in Windham to get a look at the recently donated benches…and all of the features available to the public. To wit:
Its features as a hub of social services in the community–Salvation Army & Red Shield (food, clothing, misc.), the “mall walkers”–7 times around equals one mile, an event space available to community members–with kitchen facilities,,Second Blessings (furniture & stuff), the outdoor space( That’s where the benches have gone)–the Ametek Food Forest with trees, fruits & vegetables (U-pick), the Playroom with pool tables and also used as HQ for disaster/emergency services, the Gym, Calvary Chapel–Silver Creek ( They bake bread !), the Reading Room), the PCDLibrary, the HopeTown recovery ecosystem and the Hangar, where the group enjoyed lunch with Rev. & Mrs Gray , who led the tour around the facility–gourmet dining on pizza from Cal’s (where meetings usually take place). Excellent time, excellent tour, amazing folks making contributions to their local community and beyond. Check the place out.
Regular business–there always is some- included upcoming event such as revising official by-laws, planning ahead for the coming year, Reverse Raffle planning meetings resume, discussion concerning the new mural, suggestion to lighten up on the treasurer’s duties–assistance needed during busy spells.
