Charles Edward Grubbs, Jr., 90, passed from this life March 5, 2025, at his home in Garrettsville, OH. 

Born in Cambridge, OH, September 23, 1934, to Charles E. Grubbs and Evelyn J. Grubbs, Charles was the oldest of three children. He graduated from Cambridge High School in 1952 and Harding University in 1956. He later received his master’s degree from Miami University of Ohio. Having no children of his own, Charles influenced the lives of thousands of students in his years as an English teacher in the Uhrichsville Schools (9 years) and Hudson Middle School (34 years), eventually serving as the school guidance counselor. In addition to his work in the schools, Charles preached the Gospel for more than 60 years at small congregations that could not afford a full-time evangelist. He was a long-time member of the Windham Church of Christ. Charles will be remembered as a follower of Christ, son, brother, uncle and friend.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Paul E. Grubbs, and his sister, Marlene E. Pittman. 

Charles is survived by his sister-in-law, Shirley Grubbs of Medina, OH; brother-in-law, Ken Pittman of Oakland, TN; two nephews, Kenny Pittman of Lagrange, KY, and Matt Pittman (Kelley) of Austin, TX; three nieces, Melinda Cibula (Steve) of Richfield, OH, Rhonda Perkins (Clay) of Newport, OH, and Diane Whitelaw (Matthew) of Medina OH; and 16 great nieces and nephews. 

Visitation was held on Monday, March 10, 2025, 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m., at Mallory-DeHaven-Carlson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 8382 Center St., Garrettsville, OH 44231. A funeral service followed at the funeral home at 11:00 a.m., with Roger Brown officiating. Charles will then be taken to Cambridge Northwood Cemetery, where he will be lovingly laid to rest beside his parents. For online condolences go to www.carlsonfuneralhomes.com.
