Unlocking a Century: Garrettsville’s Historic Time Capsule Opening Day Announced!

1738

It’s finally time! The moment you’ve been waiting for – the Garrettsville time capsule opening! Yes, the James A. Garfield Historical Society is diligently preparing for the big day, and you won’t want to miss it. Mark your calendars now; the “Grand Reveal” is set for July 6, 2024.

So, where can you find this intriguing time capsule? It’s conveniently located right next to the Clock Tower on High St. in Garrettsville.

Now, let’s delve into the history of this time capsule. It was installed in 1924, and after 100 years, the time has come to unveil its contents.

What can you look forward to on the day of the opening? The JAG Historical Society is determined to connect us with our roots through a day-long event on High St! Enjoy another captivating History Walk, a display of vehicles from the 1920s era, local musicians engaging in a dueling piano concert, a beard-growing contest, and much more! And, of course, be there for the grand reveal of the time capsule’s contents.

Looking ahead to the fall, the Society plans to offer a glimpse of the present for the eyes of the future. They’ll achieve this by placing a new time capsule in a new monument at the same location as the old one.

However, they can’t make this spectacular day happen without your help. Your donations will contribute to essential elements such as the new time capsule, plaque, and monument, with a fundraising goal of $5000.

Your support is crucial! Please consider donating to this historical cause. You might choose to do so in memory of your past loved ones, on behalf of your family, or even representing your organization. All donations are tax-deductible and can be made by writing a check payable to the James A. Garfield Historical Society, then mailing it to P.O. Box 144, Garrettsville, Ohio 44231. Alternatively, you can contribute through their PayPal account at garrettsvillehistory@gmail.com.

Your generous donations are greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your support. If you have any further questions about the event, feel free to contact Debbie Smith at 330-389-1859.
