The home of Connie Crate was the venue for the October 19, 2023 meeting of the Twentieth Century Club of Garrettsville. Roll call answers featured members’ favorite events and ranged from Playhouse packages to ball games, throughChristmas services, SummerFest, destination weddings, the Tractor Parade, craft events rock concerts, and just about anything with kids. An annual donation was made to the Friends of Melana organization, program booklets are being sent to honorary members who request them, a membership nomination was passed and voted in a donation was made to the Happy Trails Animal Sanctuary which will present the next program for the club.

The program for the evening was presented by the trio of Larry and Laurie Hermann and their daughter Wendy. They were introducing a new enterprise in town, namely, Bella Dawn (Lovely Beginning, as they translate it). What started out as just a project, to renovate, update and make useful an antique building on the circle in Nelson Township, turned out to have more to it than anticipated. Who knew? The building will have been remodeled, renovated, revived and turned into a genuine event center, focussing on bridal events, but available for gatherings of all sorts, with facilities including heat & AC, patio space, lists of service providers, dressing & prep spaces–a One Stop Shop, so to speak.

Anyone who has a special event coming up should give serious thought to watching for upcoming Open House events and perhaps even booking the venue for a locally-available, charming and do-able spot for a memorable moment. The refreshments–finger foods and cider–were special too.
