The February 21, 2022 meeting of the Garrettsville-Hiram Rotary Club met at Cal’s II, Sky Plaza, Garrettsville to discuss the following topics :

*The Road Apple Roubaix bike event will be coming to town on March 5.  Rotary and InterAct will be operating a complimentary bike rinse-off for all participants.  Any donations for the service will be going to the Tom Collins Memorial Fund to be used in supporting the kind of community-centered projects that Tom initiated and supported.  Rotary will be offering community information in the sign-up packet and seeking to offer information on the area’s other attractions

*There are already at least two prospective local speakers for the Four-Way Speech Contest, with more possible. There will be a local prize(March 21st) and a chance at the district reward,, which will be decided at Theodore Roosevelt High School in Kent.

*RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Award) will be coming back this year, offering a life-affirming activity/experience to students who will be seniors at their respective schools.

*Amy Crawford and Lisa McConaghy are signed up for the district grants meeting.

*Jim Irwin conducted an induction ceremony for the group’s newest members, Mark Brady and Paul Bass, as they were welcomed to the group.

*Patrick R. Viancourt was welcomed as a prospective member and regaled with information about the G-H Rotary activities and projects, as well as facts about the community as a whole–events, history, development, celebrations–the works. Patrick is the new president and CEO of Hermann’s Pickles, with a varied background in marketing, food & beverage sales & production. Hermann’s Pickles produces licensed brands (Nathan’s), private brands, and the familiar Hermann’s Pickles, with a good employee base, community involvement, and an eye to expansion, both in products and marketing. The club welcomes his interest and extends a cordial invitation to become part of G-H Rotary.
