Garrettsville-Hiram Rotary Report

1787

The October 21, 2019 meeting of the Garrettsville-Hiram Rotary Club was a fairly free-form activity presided over by Amy Crawford and largely focused on the upcoming Reverse Raffle, as well as a visit by SummerFest organizer Aaron King.

As regards the Reverse Raffle : Sponsorships are coming in and are still available (There are never too many.).  The staff at Middlefield Bank is on board to provide their expert assistance. The sound system has been secured.  Auction items are still coming in.  The usual meeting on Wednesday will be in the M-B Realty office.

Aaron King gave notice that this year’s SummerFest has been moved forward two weeks, to June 12, 13 & 14, at least partly because of how the Fourth of July falls this year.  There was discussion on the Rotary sponsorship of the kids’ movie, which has had unfortunate conflicts with the weather.  Will there be an alternate activity?  Will arrangements be made with the Garrettsville Cinema to move the event indoors?  Could there be a bike parade or kids’ tractor pull or  professional face painting or a pet parade instead?  Stay tuned.

New members were acknowledged and given pins as well as official documents calligraphed by Jim Irwin.  The corporate members from the Historic Johnson Home conveyed their appreciation and enjoyment of their experience of the J.A.Garfield Homecoming recently; they had visitors from abroad and report that images of the Homecoming are now current all over Sydney, Australia.

Happy Bucks marked family gatherings, college student returns, life in general and October in particular, the James A. Garfield community–especially the band, a 34th grandchild and an anniversary!  D. McCumbers got some milkweed seed.   It’s all good.
