Hiram – On July 25th the Hiram Police Department held its “Fill-a-Police-Car” Food Drive and Pet Adoption event. It was a fun-filled day with many animal rescues and animal advocate organizations in attendance. There were adoptable dogs that were looking for their forever homes and animal groups helping spread the word of their missions. Garrettsville Police Department was at the event with K9 Handler Keith Whan, K9 Jack, and Lt. Tim Christopher as Garrettsville PD K9 program director. The crowd was amazed as they witnessed the K9 demonstration and how police dogs work.

Iron Eagle Martial Arts of Hiram wowed the crowd with a demonstration of their martial arts skills. Iron Eagle Martial Arts owner Steve Chapman led the skills demonstration and provided insight as to the extreme discipline and dedication that is essential for martial arts.

This comes at a great time in that this time of the year is straining local food cupboards due to summer vacation from schools. More food items are needed during the summer months during school summer break because more meals are needed in the home, where 1 or 2 meals during the school year are received by children at their schools.

The event was a huge success because of the communities coming together to give back to the community.
