Windham – After a short soft opening, the Windham Beverage Drive- Thru Store held their official Grand Opening this past Saturday. Owner Ron King, his son Phil King along with store manager Angela Murphy, store employees and local elected officials were in attendance at the ribbon cutting ceremony for the official opening of the store.
A few years ago, Ron King purchased the vacant building and thought he could revive it, it certainly appears he has. The building has had a face lift, done in the spirit of the village, as it is dressed in gold and black and it has all new coolers. King had a few” irons” in the fire that delayed the opening of the beverage store but at last he got it done. He had hoped to have it opened a while ago but his “irons” kept him away from the area that slowed the facelift of the business down.
The hours will vary for a bit until they figure out what hours make sense both as a service to the community and to be fiscally responsible as well. The store is managed by Angela Murphy and she will be assisted by Phil King, Ron’s son. Phil is a six-year veteran of the United States Air Force and is excited to be a part of the business community.
The store will have beer, soda, flavored waters and more. They will carry snack food as well. Coming in the very near future, they will have wine, lottery, accept EBT cards and have an ATM. They carry a full line of cigarettes too. According to manager Angela Murphy, the price of cigarettes will be going down soon, as they have negotiated a new contract with the distributor.
King is no stranger to Windham, he was a resident of the community until recently, and a business owner of King Forest Products. He moved to Michigan when he expanded and opened another wood shop there.
Windham Beverage is located at 9541 Center Street Windham, Ohio. The hours are tentatively Sunday 8 am – 8 pm, Tuesday – Thursday 6am-10 pm, Friday 6 am – midnight, and Saturday 8 am- midnight. The hours maybe adjusted according to sales.
