Farmington Senior Center Breakfasts

The Senior Center is open for breakfast Mondays from 7a-Noon. A full menu is offered from scrambled eggs to Belgian waffles. Lunches are served T-TH from 11a-1p only $5-plate includes homemade soup or salad, entrée, dessert and beverage. Menu for the week is posted on Facebook, or just call 330-889-2733.

MS Support Group 

1st Tues of Month

If you or a loved one are living with Multiple Sclerosis, join our supportive and welcoming MS Support Group in Cortland, OH. We meet in person on the first Tuesday of every month at the Cortland Library to share experiences, offer encouragement, and connect with others who truly understand the journey. Whether you’re newly diagnosed or have been managing MS for years, this group provides a safe space for conversation, resources, and community. Light refreshments will be provided.  Our first meeting is Tuesday April 7, 2026, 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm at:

Young At Heart Meetings

3rd Tues of Month

Loaves and Fishes Community Meal

A free meal is open to all residents in Mantua, Garrettsville, Hiram and surrounding areas.  Anyone who needs to stretch their food dollars, or enjoys a homemade meal, is invited.  The meal is from 5 – 6:30pm, the last Thursday of the month, January through October, at Mantua Center Christian Church, 4118 State Route 82 in Mantua Township.  We hope to see you for good food and conversation.

Mantua Historical Society Open

The Mantua Historical Society is now open on Thursday mornings from 10am to 12noon for our weekly history club meetings. At these meetings, we learn about local history, preserve it, plan events, and coordinate efforts with other community organizations. We are always looking for volunteers to join us. The Mantua Historical Society is located upstairs (not handicap accessible) in the Mantua Township Hall, 4122 State Route 82, Mantua, OH 44255. Revolutionary Reads: Turning Pages, Changing Times at the Garrettsville Library 

Starting June 1

Pick up a Revolutionary Roadmap June 1 at the Garrettsville Library and begin your 7-month journey through classic literature, documents, speeches & poetry. Celebrate 250 years of American literature with us on Aug. 22. Limit 25. This is an adult self-led program. From June to December, participants will read one (or more) of the books or pamphlets selected for each decade and celebrate the highlights on August 22.

Friendly Squares June Square Dance

The Friendly Squares will host their monthly square dance, Saturday, June 13th, from 7:30 to 10:00 pm. At the Niles Scope Center, 14 E. State St., Niles, Ohio .Rebecca Shull Smith will be the caller. The theme will be Strawberry night. This will be a High/Low dance., with alternating tips for recently graduated dancers and tips for more experienced dancers. J.A. Garfield Historical Society “Victorian Wedding Customs”

Discover the rich symbolism of Victorian marriage customs when the J A  Garfield Historical Society hosts “Victorian Weddings” at 7 p.m., , June 15 at Garrettsville United Methodist Church, 8223 Park Ave. The free event, open to the public, features guest speaker Allison Powell, a park ranger at the James A. Garfield National Historic Site in Mentor. Many of today’s treasured wedding traditions trace their roots throughout history, some to ancient Roman times. This promises to be an interesting program to kick off the wedding season.

Garrettsville Tap Talk #3

If history and a beer sound interesting to you, please join us at Garrett’s Mill& Brewing on Tuesday, June 23, at 6:00 PM for our third Garrettsville Tap Talk: “From Farm to Fore: How the Kelker Farm became Sugar Bush Golf Course.” The transformation took time, money, hard work, and lots of faith. Karen Kelker Miller, the youngest member of the family, will share her story and memories alongside Matt  Manno, who will discuss more current developments at Sugar Bush.  Reservations are required. The talk begins at 6:00 and there are good appetizer specials until 6:00.  Garrettsville Tap Talk is a free event sponsored by the J.A. Garfield Historical Society and Garrett’s Mill & Brewing Co.

MSFD Open House

June 27

The Mantua-Shalersville FD will hold an open house at the fire station to celebrate the department’s 125th anniversary on June 27, 2026, from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm. The station is located at 10303 SR 44 just south of Mantua Village. There will be the normal open house activities but the star of the show will be an operating 1887 Amoskeag 700 GPM steam pumper, operated by longtime WRFB member Ted Elder. Please join us and help us celebrate this milestone event.
