Overeaters Anonymous Meetings

Overeaters Anonymous (a community of people who support each other in order to recover from compulsive eating and food behaviors) meets in person every Monday, except legal holidays, at 10:00AM in the parlor of the First Presbyterian Church of Warren, 256 Mahoning Av NW, Warren, OH 44483. Farmington Senior Center Breakfasts

The Senior Center is open for breakfast Mondays from 7a-Noon. A full menu is offered from scrambled eggs to Belgian waffles. Lunches are served T-TH from 11a-1p only $5-plate includes homemade soup or salad, entrée, dessert and beverage. Menu for the week is posted on Facebook, or just call 330-889-2733.

American Legion 674 Fish Frys

Young At Heart Meetings

Portage County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society Meeting

April 6             

The Portage County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society will meet on Saturday, April 6, 2024 at the Portage County Historical Society, 6549 N. Chestnut St in Ravenna Ohio at 10:00 a.m.  

The guest speaker will be John T. Cunningham, a member and trustee of the Ohio Genealogical Society who will present a program on “The Effective Use of FamilySearch.” 

Familysearch.com is a free genealogy website with countless records and Cunningham will share ideas on how to navigate the site for the best research results.  

The May 4, 2024 program will feature Kelli Bergheimer, speaking on “Where can you find more genealogy education?” The different modes of genealogy education– webinar, conference, meetings, institutes, and courses. Bergheimer is a member of the Association of Professional Genealogists and the Genealogical Speaker’s Guild.

Mantua Historical Society

Red White & Bluau

The Kent American Legion Post 496, 1945 Mogadore Road, Kent, Ohio will be hosting a fundraising event- the Red, White and Bluau. As a non-partisan, not-for-profit, the American Legion is dedicated to supporting and enhancing the well-being of America’s veterans, their families, and our communities. The primary goal of this event is to raise

funds for scholarships for KSU students in the Air Force Arnold Society and to provide assistance to our local veterans. Eclipse Party At Windham UMC

Windham UMC will be hosting an Eclipse Party on Monday, April 8, 2024 from 12 – 4.  It will be held in parking lot of the church at 9051 N. Main Street, Windham, Ohio 44288.  It will be open to the public and light refreshments will be provided.  PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN ECLIPSE GLASSES AND LAWN CHAIR.

MaRSI’s 2nd Friday Dinner

The Mantua Restoration Society (MaRSI) is holding their 2nd Friday Night Dinner, from 4 – 7pm, on Friday, April 12, 2024.  This month’s dinner features hot entrees, mouth-watering soups, an array of salads, and scrumptious desserts.  The Mantua Restoration Society is not permitted to charge a set amount and cannot mention what similar food might cost in a restaurant.  Donations are graciously accepted.  Dine in or carryout available.  The dinner is held at the Mantua Center School Annex located at 11741 Mantua Center Road, Mantua Township.  Come join us for good food and community!

JAG Historical Society

The 1924 time capsule at the corner of Maple and High, right next to the Clock Tower is set to be opened on July 6, 2024 for all to see and participate in. We will be hosting the next meeting of the NEO InterMuseum Council on April 16; guests are welcome. There was discussion on the colors to be used on the new/refurbished signs for the Bonnet Shop and the Mott Building.

Time marches on.

Become A Basket-Weaver

Register to partake in Naturalist Renell’s charming series Put your hands to work weaving a basket this spring! Registration is open (but filling fast) at www.geaugaparkdistrict.org or 440-286-9516 for workshops to build a basic bin basket, a unique-to-you odds-and-ends basket, or both! 

First, designed to teach the basic art of basket weaving with rattan reed, Naturalist Renell Roebuck will present Weave a Bin Basket on Friday, April 19, from noon to 5 p.m. (for those who take longer to finish) at Holbrook Hollows Lodge. Participation costs $20 for Geauga residents and $24 for out-of-county residents, covering all materials and instruction.

Then, for those with some basket-weaving experience – including previous participants of Geauga Park District’s charming basket-weaving series – Odds & Ends Basket still has openings on Wednesday, May 16, 1 to 5 p.m. at Claridon Woodlands’ Judge Lester Taylor Lodge. There, Naturalist Renell will provide a basic pattern, then you will design and weave your own basket utilizing the creativity that’s innate in you! This workshop will cost $20 for Geauga residents and $24 for out-of-county residents, also covering all materials and guidance.
