Aspire Programs 

Mondays & Wednesdays

The Portage County Maplewood Aspire Program will begin offering GED, Adult Diploma and ESOL classes at the Kent Free Library on Wednesday, January 3rd from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Classes will be held on Mondays and Wednesdays during this time. Prospective students are required to first attend an orientation session prior to entering class at the Kent Free Library. Please call 330-235-0020 to schedule orientation. Orientation sessions are offered every 2 weeks throughout the year, during both the morning and evening. Overeaters Anonymous Meetings

Mondays

Overeaters Anonymous (a community of people who support each other in order to recover from compulsive eating and food behaviors) meets in person every Monday, except legal holidays, at 10:00AM in the parlor of the First Presbyterian Church of Warren, 256 Mahoning Av NW, Warren, OH 44483. Please enter through the “Fellowship Hall” entrance on driveway. We look forward to meeting you! 

Farmington Senior Center Breakfasts

Mondays

The Senior Center is open for breakfast Mondays from 7a-Noon. A full menu is offered from scrambled eggs to Belgian waffles. Lunches are served T-TH from 11a-1p only $5-plate includes homemade soup or salad, entrée, dessert and beverage. Menu for the week is posted on Facebook, or just call 330-889-2733.

3rd Monday of the Month

The James A Garfield Historical Society meetings are held on the 3rd Monday of the month at 7:00p.m. at the Mott building (corner of 82 and High street.)  Help preserve our History.

Young At Heart Meetings

2nd Weds of Month

2nd Wednesday of each month (Sept 13, 2023 – May 8, 2024) from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at Maplewood Christian Church 7300 State Route 88 in Ravenna. Come experience a safe indoor environment where children ages 2 – 5 can play, craft, enjoy music and burn energy (adults stay for fun, siblings welcome).  We will not meet if Ravenna Schools are closed. American Legion 674 Fish Frys

Annual Fish Frys return to the American Legion, Windham Post 674, 9960 E. Game Night

On Saturday, February 24, 2024, from 3:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Harvest Point Church, located at 2121 Salt Springs Rd., Lordstown, Ohio, will host a Game Night.  This is a family friendly, fun event for all ages featuring various board games, fellowship and snacks.  This event is FREE and everyone is welcome.  Children under the age of 17 years MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY AN ADULT. 

St Patricks Day Reverse Raffle

The St. Ambrose’s St. Patrick’s Day Reverse Raffle Dinner is back to being held at Sugar Bush. The event on March 16, 2024 includes dinner, coffee, ice tea, cash bar, DJ, reverse raffle, 50/50, and a Chinese auction. Tickets are $100.00 for two meals and one number grand prize is $1000.00. There will be side boards available also. An additional $20.00 will get you a buy back of your number, (a second chance). Only 100 tickets will be sold. Every 20 draws will receive a prize. It Starts with the Soil: Organic Lawn Care Program

Join the Geauga Soil and Water Conservation District and Good Nature Organic Lawn Care on Tuesday, March 12th from 6:00 – 7:30 pm at the Geauga West Library to learn practical tips and easy steps to take care of your lawn and landscape while minimizing harmful chemicals and pesticides.  Starting from the ground up, this program will guide you through practices that build organic matter, improve soil health, and create a chemical-free lawn!  Make this the season for a safer lawn for your children, your pets, and your neighborhood. Nelson Garrettsville Community Cupboard Food Distribution

March 4 & 13

Residents living within the James A. Garfield Local Schools district are elligable to receive a monthly food distribution from The Nelson Garrettsville Community Cupboard.  New clients of the NGCC should bring their Photo ID and a utility bill in their name/address to a distribution day to register.  In March, our food distribution will take place on March 3 from 3:00–5:00pm; and March 13 from 9:00–11:30am. 

The NGCC operates out of the Garrettsville Family YMCA building on Park Ave in Garrettsville. We are chartered to serve residents residing in the James A. Garfield school district.
