The October 6, 2022 meeting of the Twentieth Century Club of Garrettsville took place at the home of Joyce Fashing, with Karen Ziarko serving as co-hostess. Several changes to meeting locations were announced (November 17 to the home of Linda Fitt, January 5 at the home of Jane Hill, January 19, 2023 will be in the JAG Elementary School Klamer Professional Development Center, the March 2 meeting will be at the Garrettsville YMCA, hosted by Karen Ziarko) and the names of prospective new members were offered. There was a reminder about RSVPs to hostesses and the annual reading of the constitution and by-laws.President Karen Miller asked members do be thinking about contributions to local community needs.

The enlightening program, presented by Anne Rubin, offered information on Native American cultures, accompanied by music and food–a winning combination! This all tied in with the roll call for the opening of the meeting, which was to name a county in Ohio with a name originating in a Native American language. Social mores and political organization were outlined as well as the abundance of the Ohio Country. An Iroquois prayer brought the program to a thoughtful end.

Refreshments highlighted Ohio’s continuing abundance : apple, pumpkin, cheese, cider and buckeyes.
Next meeting will be at the home of Mary Furillo, with Connie Crate as co-hostess
