The Groomer of G’ville Welcomes Pooches to Main Street

Garrettsville – The Groom Room of Burton is moving to Garrettsville, sporting a new name. Lisa Washabaugh is relocating her dog grooming service to historic downtown Garrettsville at 8116 Main Street. The Groomer of G’ville opens on May 5.

After 14 years working in a veterinary clinic, 30 years as a groomer and eight years as a business owner in Geauga County, Washabaugh is happy to bring her business closer to home. Washabaugh lives in nearby Nelson Township with her husband, Jerry. She moved to the country from Maple Heights 14 years ago and has never been tempted to return to the city.

“Garrettsville is a nice little town,” she says. “Everyone is friendly. I’ve been keeping my eyes open for a place to move my business downtown. When I learned this building was available, I jumped at the chance.”

Washabaugh purchased the storefront (the former location of Italian Garden restaurant) after Christmas and has been working on cleaning and renovating the space while easing back from her commitments at the Burton location. Her last day at The Groom Room is April 26; then she will put all of her energies into The Groomer of G’ville. She hopes most of her existing clients are following her to the new location while attracting plenty of new dog owners from the local area.

Originally trained and state-certified as a cosmetologist, Washabaugh soon gravitated back to the pooch population she originally worked with at her sister’s grooming business in Maple Heights. Washabaugh still enjoys making her customers happy with a great shampoo, trim and pedicure. The dogs make for a grateful clientele; their owners are just as pleased with Washabaugh’s excellent service and knowledgeable care.

Washabaugh reports that customers appreciate her easygoing nature that makes dogs comfortable with her. With her experienced eye, she can also alert pet owners to a previously undetected skin infection or lump under the skin that should be seen by a vet.
A full-service grooming visit includes a massaging bath/shampoo and brushout, a haircut, an ear cleaning and nail service (cleaning, clipping, drummelling). Washabaugh can also provide specialized services, such as teeth cleaning, de-skunking treatments, flea baths, medical baths and more.

For a limited time, first-time customers can receive a complimentary flea bath or medicated oatmeal bath for their dog. The Groomer of G’ville will be open from 8am-4pm Mondays through Fridays and 8am-3pm Saturdays, available at (440) 834-1911 and online at GroomerOfGville.com.
