Nelson Twp. – Starting September 22 ODOT will be changing the traffic pattern at State Route 88 and State Route 305 from a 2-way stop [but will be turning] into a 4-way stop.

The decision was made after studies using 2014-2018 crash data, verified that it averages 4 to 5 crashes per year, the majority being angle crashes resultant of drivers on SR 305 failing to yield to oncoming vehicles traveling on SR 88. In 2019 crash data found 5 angle crashes were reported here. Based on the crash data and intersection volumes, the intersection satisfies the Ohio Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devises criteria for conversion to an all-way stop control.

In addition to stop signs, the overhead flasher at this intersection (with lenses changed to red all around) will remain, due to the  alignment and profile of the intersection’s approaches.
