Rilla M. Mullenax of Windham, OH

158

Our beloved Rilla M. Mullenax, 77, of Windham, Ohio passed away at her home on Saturday, February 26, 2022. She was born June 28, 1944, in Morgantown, West Virginia to the late Wilford and Evelyn (Campbell) Fairfield.

Rilla was a lifelong resident of Windham, Ohio; where she met the love of her life Bud Mullenax and raised their family for the past 60 years. She had a spitfire personality and was a social butterfly who made everyone laugh. Rilla always had something funny to say and had an ability to become fast friends with anyone she met. She was proud to be a Windham resident and had a deep love for its small-town sense of community. She had a big heart that was apparent to everyone with whom she crossed paths.

She will be deeply missed by her devoted husband Bud; children Glenn Mullenax, Richard Mullenax, Larry (Cheryl) Mullenax, James (Deanne) Snodgrass, and her granddaughter Amber Ashby for whom she had a significant role in raising and sister Sandy Davis. She was much more than an aunt to her nieces and nephews she held close. She was blessed with many grandchildren and great grandchildren whom she adored.

Rilla was preceded in death by her parents Wilford and Evelyn Fairfield, daughter Debbie Kimak, son John Snodgrass, niece/caregiver GiGi Herndon, sister Pat Apthorpe and brother Bud Fairfield. We can all take comfort in knowing that the reunion with her loved ones was unimaginable.

The family would like to encourage family and friends to donate in honor of Rilla’s memory to: The Windham Joint District Fire Department or The Windham Hot Stove. Donations for both can be made at Farmers Bank in Windham, Ohio.

The family has decided to not hold memorial services. A Celebration of Life for Rilla will be announced by the family at a later date.

Let us not forget: Rilla never met an ambulance or fire truck she didn’t want to chase. She was affectionately known as “Tella-Rilla” and “Foots”.
