Preserving Geauga County Farmland for Generations to Come – Application Deadline Extended!

2021

The Clean Ohio Local Agricultural Easement Purchase Program (LAEPP) provides funding to assist landowners in preserving farmland.  The program purchases agricultural easements from landowners who volunteer to keep their land in agricultural production in perpetuity.  The Geauga County Board of County Commissioners, with assistance from Geauga Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD), is a Certified Local Sponsor to administer this Ohio Department of Agriculture (ODA) program.

ODA has extended the deadline to receive LAEPP applications to June 1st.  To date, no Geauga County applications have been received.  Interested landowners should contact Geauga SWCD directly to discuss eligibility for the program and to receive assistance with the application process.  To ensure adequate time to prepare applications, Geauga SWCD is requesting that necessary information be submitted to the District by May 15.  For more information and application assistance, contact Carmella Shale at cshale@geaugaswcd.com or leave a message at 440-834-1122 and your call will be returned.
