Potato Festival To Select Queen

1364

Mantua – The 46th annual Mantua Potato Festival will once again take place the weekend after Labor Day, from Friday, September 6th through Sunday, September 8th. Once again, the Festival will be crowning a new Potato Festival Queen and court. The 2018 Queen, Ms. Cidney Lynn Furner, will crown this year’s winner and her court.

Young women, aged 4 through 18 and young men wishing to be considered for Tater Tot Prince are welcome to apply. According to Kim Ule, who manages the Potato Festival Queen and Court process, Queens are selected on the basis of their community stewardship, not typical beauty pageant criteria. “It’s a great opportunity for young women involved in their community to be honored,” Ule shared. The winning applicant is awarded a $250 cash scholarship in exchange for attending five events representing the Potato Festival in the following year. The application can be found at www.mantuapotatofestival.org and is due by August 31st.

In addition to crowning the 2019 Potato Festival queen and her court on Friday, September 6th, this year’s Potato Festival promised plenty of other fun, family-friendly activities during the action-packed weekend. From  rides and your favorite fair foods to a walk-up paint party, live bands, trial runs in Soapbox Derby cars, and even fireworks, the 2019 Mantua Potato Festival is geared up to be a memorable weekend, so be sure to mark your calendar! Find out more at the website or check out the Mantua Potato Festival page on Facebook.
