Middlefield – Each year, the Middlefield Police Department identifies families in the area who need some extra support at Christmas time. This year, the MPD officers volunteered several hours using donated funds to shop with children from 11 local families thereby giving the kids the ability to purchase gifts for others in their families. The time spent shopping, “cops with kids” fosters relationships and trust between the youth and our local officers which will hopefully impact them positively as they mature on through the years. Family members of the officers, and Village officials and families assisted with wrapping the gifts. Walmart in Middlefield provided the space for this effort, paper, tape, refreshments and support staff.
