At their last meeting, Fire Chief Matt Roosa invited board members to take a look at the department’s new ambulance that was recently delivered. He noted that although the new squad had been ordered in January of 2021, supply chain issues had delayed shipment of the vehicle.

Roosa noted that a similar order would have taken eight or nine months previously. The build and delivery on the Department’s new 4WD, F550 chassis vehicle took roughly 20 months. Over that same time period, the cost has increased dramatically as well.

What cost the community roughly $230,000 at the time of purchase has increased by roughly $70,000 today. Now that the new squad is in service, the former vehicle, a 2009 E-Series van model, was listed for sale at online auction. The Department hopes to raise between $10,000 – $12,000 on the sale at auction.
In other news, Roosa noted that contract negotiations for full-time employees are moving forward. He added that in roughly a month, another part-time employee should be on board, as well.

The next regularly scheduled Fire Board meeting will take place on Monday, October 10th at 6 pm; residents are encouraged to attend.
