Making The Grade: A Guide to Making Quality Maple Syrup

1545

Join us for a hands-on workshop April 11th, 9:30–12:00, at the Patterson Center inside the Geauga County Fairgrounds, Gate 4 in Burton. We will dive into the details of Maple Syrup grading.  Covering the official color grades—from Delicate to Very Dark—we’ll  show you how to accurately test for density (Brix) and clarity. Bring a ½ pt or more of your own syrup to the event so it can be tasted and identify any issues or off flavors there might be. You’ll also get to participate in a guided tasting to help you identify different flavor profiles and learn how to spot common off-flavors. Whether you’re a hobbyist or a seasoned producer looking to improve your skills or make a better product, you’ll walk away with the tools to grade your own syrup with confidence.

Pre-registration is required and sign up can be seen at www.mpneoh.com/upcoming-events.
