Main Street Ravenna Announces a Virtual Winter Writing Festival for 2021

2299

Ravenna – If you love to write or think you might like to write, join us Saturdays in February for a virtual version of the “Winter Writing Festival’’! Due to the pandemic, Main Street Ravenna and Reed Memorial Library have had to make changes to this fun event for writing in all its forms and decided to go virtual this year instead of cancelling the event altogether.

Main Street Ravenna and Reed Memorial Library will host writing workshops virtually on each Saturday in February (6, 13, 20, 27) at 10:00 am and 2:00 pm. The workshops are FREE and open to children, teens and adults. Registration will be required and unique workshop links will be provided for each individual class via Zoom. Workshops and registration links have not been added to the website yet but keep checking back for updates soon.

Because this year has been so eventful, our Teen/Adult Community Writing Contest will feature the writing prompt in keeping with the theme: “The Idea of Change’’. Find the prompt on the Main Street Ravenna website, https://mainstreetravenna.org/events under Winter Writing Festival.

Write a fictional short story, poem, or creative nonfiction essay (up to 1500 words) using the prompt as inspiration. Follow the directions on how and where to submit your entry. The winner will receive a $50 prize plus publication of his or her story.
A special thank you goes out to our sponsors which include Eric Schlaubach State Farm Insurance, Mike Tontimonia, Shorts-Spicer-Crislip Funeral Home of Ravenna, David Dix, Bill and Mary Beth Barber, and Ravenna City Schools.
