Jane Ann Burkey, 75, of Middlefield, OH, formerly of Garrettsville, OH, passed away Monday, July 18, 2022. She was born June 20, 1947, in Johnstown, PA, to the late Lewis Bernard and Margaret Naomi (Bunn) Maus. She graduated in 1965 from Portage Area High School in Portage, PA, and received Lab Tech Training at Lee Hospital in Johnstown, PA. Jane married the love of her life, Richard D. Burkey on January 24, 1967. They were married for 55 years but had known each other since they were children, growing up less than one mile away from each other. Jane was a clerk at the Garrettsville branch of Middlefield Banking Co. and a teacher at Tiger Tech Day Care Learning Center in Mantua. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, traveling with her husband around the country, and making blankets for newborn babies. She won many blue ribbons at the Portage County Randolph Fair for the blankets and doilies that she made. Her biggest joy in life was raising her four children and spoiling her loving grandchildren and great-granddaughter.

She will be sadly missed by her husband, Richard; children, Richard D. (Robin) Burkey Jr., Raymond D. (Heather) Burkey, Christopher (Jessi) Burkey, Angela (Brian) Keiser; grandchildren, Alison, Richard III, Raymond Jr., Alexander, Liam, James, Madelyn, Emily, Frank (Hainee), and Barbara (Joe); and great-granddaughter, Sabella. She will also be missed by her sister, Jean Gallaher; brother, Bob (Carol) Maus; and sisters-in-law, Nancy Maus and Carolyn Covert. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, John Maus, and brother-in-law, Paul Gallaher.

Calling hours were held Friday, July 22, 2022, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Sly Family Funeral Home, 15670 W. High St., Middlefield, OH 44062. A Celebration of Her Life was held 11 a.m. on Saturday July 23, 2022, at the Funeral Home with Pastor Jack Holbrook officiating.
