Last Tuesday evening, members of the Hiram Township Fire Department were sworn in by Portage County Commissioner Mike Tinlin. The team includes: Fire Chief Nicholas Bushek, Assistant Chief Jason Groselle, and Captain Christopher Sanchez. In addition, the following Firefighter/EMS department members include: William Adams, Dylan Bartholomew, Jacoby Behm, Jaden Bihari, Don Bryant, Tierney Bryant, Mike Craider, Jason Dailey, Brady Delung, Dan Ellenberger, Floyd Harris, Jacob Knittle, Anthony Ludlow, Mason Mayoros, Max Mclaury, Tom Matota Jr., Brandon Nutter, Edward Pancost, Michaels Pickens, Daniel Ritchie, Andrea Simera, Kevin Sponaugle, Greg Warner, Josh Wilde, and Adam Wracher.

Several Department members were unable to be present due to other commitments. According to Township Trustee Chairman Jack Groselle, “The Township now has 11 fire fighter/medics, 10 firefighter/basic EMT’s, 2 medics, 1 basic EMT, 2 firefighters, and 2 are currently in school. Chairman Groselle shared that nine members live in Hiram Township, while the remainder live in neighboring communities.
The Department, including a fire truck and ambulance, resides at the Township Building (6352 State Route 82), and according to Chairman Groselle, “They’re ready to go on October 1st with two people on staff 24/7.”
In similar news, representatives of the Village of Hiram and Hiram Township will meet again in mediation at a date not yet determined to continue the productive discussions that were held in early September. They are optimistic that they can reach an agreement that will benefit both parties.
