The June 8, 2026 meeting of the Garrettsville-Hiram Rotary welcomed guest Lisa Soeder of the Kent Rotary to observe their dealings with the following business:
First, a review of the lockbox events held so far–could be more enthusiastic adoptions but the project is ongoing. Consult with local churches? The Storybook Trail Project is proceeding apace, some posts are set; there will be some opportunity to help out and some paperwork to finish; there are pix. There will be a public event in connection with the trail offering food and other activities–possibly historical in nature–sometime in July or August before back-to-school events ramp up. Possibly with commemorative tchotchkes. RYLA(RotaryYouth Leadership Award) comes to Hiram College soon; local GHR will be assisting–picnic, bowling etc. The 100th Anniversary dinner will be on June 11 at the Garrett’s Mill Brewing Company. There will be a power point presentation and an invitation to Bob Jackson, outstanding local member and district officer–he initiated RYLA. The Reverse Raffle is set for Sugar Bush and catering will be provided by CornersCatering. There was a warning about “spoofing” calls by scammers. Check with your local bank, not the caller’s number.
Happy Bucks came in for an interesting haircut, time with grandbabies, a child returning to the neighborhood, a pause in sports activities, a lawn mower challenge, a brother come to visit and catch up, fruitpicking (alas, not at Monroe’s. They need our continued support after the weather whalloped them this Spring.), just becuz.
It’s all good.
