All about planning… Garrettsville-Hiram Rotary entertained a good crowd on July 20, 2026, with plenty happening and about to happen.
Past District Governor, Bob Oborn (and his lovely wife) presented G-HR with the A.Z.Baker Award for service, while Annie Zwisler came up with the latest on books to be featured in the Storybook Trail, opening Sunday, July 26 as part of the Garrettsville-Hiram Rotary celebration of one hundred years in the community. The books–Hot Dog and If You Find A Leaf– are seasonally focused and will be part of a year-long rotation coming up. The celebration will have a grand ribbon-cutting, official remarks, thank-you’s to sponsors and contributors, as well as games, picnic fare and an appearance of treats from the Cowboy Creamery (which has suffered a tough ice cream situation but will show up, regardless. C’mon out, Pardner). All this will be going on close to the Garrettsville branch of the Portage County District Library at Garrettsville’s South Street (Bill Phelps) Park. July 26 is the date. Be part of the crowd. Celebrate !
Another visitor was Elana Koh, an assistant liaison for leadership of District 6630 and her juvenile posse bringing information and encouragement.
A Thank You letter from leadership of the recent RYLA activity was read; a T-shirt was displayed. There was a reminder about the upcoming Rotary Night at the Guardians game on July 31.
Happy Bucks came in for a son’s visit, a clean garage, gifts from a son’s vacation, the whole FIFA event and its good feelings, pics from a past exchange student, arrival of a grandson, a whole lotta smile-able stuff and a birthday.
It’s all good.
