Mantua – On March 3, seven student-led teams competed at the Destination Imagination Regional Tournament at Barberton Middle School. The daylong competition consisted of Service Learning, Technical, Fine Arts, Scientific, Improvisational, Structural, and Early Learning team challenges. Students competed against teams from over a dozen schools from Geauga, Portage and Summit Counties that comprise DI’s Region 15.

Two teams competed from Crestwood Primary School: the Japan Wolves and the Keenenar Country Road Trip Rocks. While they didn’t place, Team Japan Wolves was honored to win an award for their impressive props. From Crestwood Intermediate, four teams competed. The Creators, Destination Crestwood, Team Kaebck and 5 Peas in a Pod. The Creators and 5 Peas teams earned fourth place, while Destination Crestwood earned third place in their category. Team KAEBCK scored an impressive first place, and will continue to the state competition. The #offtaskers represented Crestwood Middle School; they earned fourth place, as well as winning the coveted Spirit of DI award.

“We’re so grateful to Mrs. Grebb for bringing Destination Imagination to Crestwood!” beamed Crestwood Primary School Principal Cindy Ducca. “Thanks to her, all of our DI parent volunteers and our amazing DI kiddos for representing Crestwood at the Regional Competition!”

Crestwood Intermediate’s Team KAEBCK won first place in the Structural challenge at the Regional competition, and will be heading to the DI State Tournament in Mt. Vernon on March 24th.
