Charles E. Hayes age 76 of Windham passed away peacefully on Wednesday Jan 17, 2024 at the University Hospitals Portage Medical Center in Ravenna.  He was born on May 7, 1947 in Grafton, WV the son of the late Harold Edward Hayes and Wanda R. (Bolner) Hayes. Charles had lived in Windham for over 30 years, formerly of Grafton, WV where he graduated from Grafton High School in the Class of 1965. He married the loved of his life, Lucinda Mae Linn on, July 10, 1967, and they have enjoyed the past 56 years of marriage together. Charles worked as a machinist at Pritchard Products (Swagelok) in Solon for over 40 years retiring in 2006. He enjoyed going to casinos, NASCAR driver Chase Elliott, old westerns, and watching cooking shows. Charles is preceded in death by his parents, mother-in-law and father-in-law: Madaline & Harry Wolfe, sister-in-law and brother-in-law: Robin & David Kascsak Sr.

He is survived by: 1 sister: Twila & Herb Smith of Volant, PA, 3 nieces: Melissa & Kenny Eskins, Brenda Britt, and Lisa Sanchez, a nephew: Christopher & Amber Sanchez, 2 great nieces: Savannah Britt, Lauren Sanchez, 5 great nephews: Brandon Zavara, Charles Britt, Cade Sanchez, Cruz Sanchez, Coen Sanchez, and numerous cousins.  

Funeral services were at the James Funeral Home in Newton Falls on Thursday Jan 25, 2024 at 7:00pm with Rev. Steve Spurlock officiating. The family received friends for calling hours from 5:00- 7:00pm.  Cremation followed.  In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that all donations please be made to the Community EMS 10804 Forest St. Garrettsville, OH 44231 in his memory.  A special thank you to his cousin Harold & Barb Hays for spending time with Charles at the hospital and on doctor’s office visits.  Thank you to Dr. Rehman, nurses, and staff at Seidman Cancer Center for the wonderful care given to Charles and his family.
