Burton Public Library Hosts 20th Edible Books Contest

Burton – The Burton Public Library hosted its 20th Edible Books Contest on Saturday, April 23rd, 2022. This annual Spring event is cherished by the community and encourages participants to create an edible treat based on a book.  The festival is open to people of all ages and is a fun family activity. Some of the culinary creations this year were based on the books: Mortimer’s First Garden,  Owl Diaries, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, The Gingerbread Man, The Eensy Weesy Spider, Spongebob’s Secret Valentine, Invader Zim, The Sword in the Stone, and The Little Mouse, the Red Ripe Strawberry, and the Big Hungry.

In the children’s category, first place was awarded to Ellie Klukan and Issa Asson for their cake based on Owl Diaries. (pictured above)

In the adult category, the first place winner was Sarah Mann for her cake which was based on The Eensy Weensy Spider.

Honorable mentions were awarded to Josiah Klukan for his How the Grinch Stole Christmas cake, and to Laura Maike for her cake which was based on the book The Little Mouse, the Red Ripe Strawberry, and the Big Hungry.
