It’s been said that travel is the only thing you buy that makes you richer. And summer is when we can test that theory out. Vacations, family reunions, road trips, summer camp, and holiday weekends all show us that some of life’s best returns come from experience, not accumulation.
With the World Cup in North America this summer, it has been fun to see first-time visitors experience the U.S. with fresh eyes. What stands out is not just the excitement of the matches, but the other moments around them — stories of community, curiosity, commonality and the joy of finding something memorable amid what we see as ordinary. Being a guest has its benefits, and in the end helps us appreciate the people, places (and food) we might usually take for granted.
As the Fourth of July approaches and our country marks its Semiquincentennial (250 years of independence), it feels like a great time to value your legacies and look at where you are with fresh eyes. That’s part of what I hope to offer — perspective, communication, and a steady presence as life unfolds.
So wherever this next season takes you, I hope it brings safe travels and moments that stay with you long after summer ends.
