If you’re looking for a new way to get outside and enjoy the warmer weather while it lasts, look no further than archery! Join us at Chickagami Park this August and September for opportunities geared toward children and adults who are just starting out, as well as those looking to practice the skills they’ve already learned, all using Geauga Park District equipment.
Registration is required for all at www.geaugaparkdistrict.org under Programs & Events, then program activity Archery.
First-timers to Geauga Park District’s archery offerings can take the first step with one of our introductory programs, where they’ll learn the basics of target archery, like safety and technique, on an outdoor range. Attendance at one of these programs is a prerequisite for all our other archery programs. Participants will leave with confidence in their new skills!
Designed for families with children ages 9 and up, Introduction to Archery for Families will be held Sunday, August 30, from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Two Introduction to Archery for Adults programs are also available: Saturday, September 19, from 10:30 a.m. to noon, and Thursday, September 24, from 2:30 to 4 p.m.
Archers who have completed one of these programs and are interested in more practice can then peruse our archery games programs! Participants practice techniques to improve their aim while shooting against fellow archers in competitions with low stakes and lots of laughs.
Kids ages 9 to 16 can attend Archery Games for Kids on Sunday, August 30, from 1 to 2:30 p.m., while adults can attend Archery Games for Adults on Saturday, August 22, from 2:30 to 4 p.m., or Thursday, September 24, 12:30 to 2 p.m.
Chickagami Park is located at 17957 Tavern Rd in Parkman Township. Please arrive 15 minutes early to allow for the walk to the range. We look forward to showing you what this rewarding and exhilarating sport has to offer!
