Roslynn Lillian Campbell, 90, of Garrettsville Ohio, passed away peacefully with her family by her side, leaving behind a lifetime of love, memories and a legacy that will live on through the many lives she touched.
Mom was born in Cleveland, Ohio, to Paul and Lillian Zielke. She spent most of her life in Garrettsville, where she raised her family, and became a beloved part of her community. She was also a member of the Hiram Christian Church.
Roslynn was the beloved wife of Wilbert Campbell, with whom she shared 57 years of marriage before his passing in 2014. Together they built a life and family filled with love. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Calvin Zielke, Daniel Zielke and her daughter Patricia Campbell.
To know mom, was to know what it meant to be loved without judgment. She was not only a mother to her own family, but a mother to many. Her home and her heart were always open to anyone who was down on their luck, needed a place to rest their head, or simply needed someone to care. It could be for one night or for an entire year – mom never asked questions or passed judgment. She simply offered love, comfort, and a place to belong.
Her greatest joy was her family, daughter Brenda Formberg, and her son-in-law Michael Formberg, her granddaughter Sasha Crouch and her son-in-law Joel. She especially enjoyed her great-grandchildren Izabella and Sidney who brought immeasurable happiness to her life.
Mom loved to bake, and many people came to her home just for that reason, with most requesting her homemade caramel brownies. She also had a deep passion for reading books, often finding comfort, joy and adventure in pages of a good story. She often encouraged her granddaughter and great-granddaughters to read, sharing with them her own deep love of books. She also had a wonderful sense of humor and could always make people laugh. Her quick wit and playful spirit and ability to find humor in everyday moments brought joy to everyone around her in which she kept until the very end, reminding us that even in life’s most difficult moments, there was always room for a smile – and perhaps even a brownie.
Mom will be remembered for her generous heart, her unconditional love, her willingness to help others and the feeling of home that she gave to so many people. Her family and all those fortunate enough to have known her will carry her love with them always.
She was a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, wife and friend – but to many she was simply Mom, whether they were family by blood or by the love she gave so freely. Some of her “adopted” family include Gary, Holly and Candy Brunswick, Donna, Erin and Eden Craver-Dean, Vicki and Darrell Brosius. And her nieces Kristy and Sara Zielke.
Mom’s memory will live on in the hearts of everyone she loved and everyone who was lucky enough to be loved by her.
Calling hours will be held Sunday, October 4th at Green’s Funeral Care 4668 Pioneer Trail Mantua, Ohio 44255 from 12:00 to 3:00, with the funeral service beginning at 3:00 p.m. Pastor Chris McCreight will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that those who knew her, remember her by showing someone kindness, compassion, and love that she showed others throughout her life. And in her honor, perhaps share a laugh, bake something sweet and never pass up the chance to make someone smile. Donations may be made in Mom’s name to: Reed Memorial Library 167 W Main st, Ravenna Ohio 44266 or the Portage Animal Protective League 8122 Infirmary Rd, Ravenna. Ohio 44266.
