William Joseph “Willy/Hum” Helmuth Jr., age 34, of Mantua, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, August 11, 2026.
He was born on August 16, 1991, and was formerly of Hiram, Ohio. Willy was a dedicated tree service professional and worked for Yarnell Tree Co. in Mantua for the past eight years.
Willy was truly the life of the party and had a personality that could light up any room. He was an avid Cleveland sports fan and enjoyed spending his free time golfing, playing cornhole, and watching Dragon Ball Z. Above all, Willy will be remembered for his love of his family, his friends, and the many people whose lives he touched with his humor and outgoing spirit.
On May 6, 2023, Willy married the love of his life, Corinne Keely Helmuth, who survives him. He is also survived by his beloved son, William Joseph “Tubs” Helmuth III; his father, William J. Helmuth; his mother, Tonya Sue (Michael) Brookover; his brother, Kyle (Dr. Stefanie Juzkiw) Brookover; his sister, Tasha (Donald Hollabaugh) Pequignot; his niece, Chloe “Fat Head” Wallace; and his cherished fur babies, Brutus, Neo, Raven, and Lynx.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Ervin and Shirley Ann Helmuth; his maternal grandmother, Donna Pequignot; his maternal grandfather and grandmother, Bob and Sue Pequignot; his cousin, Jaquline Shoemaker; and his friend, Jimmy Lougen.
Family and friends gathered to remember and celebrate Willy’s life from 5:00 to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at Sly Family Funeral Home, 15670 W. High Street, Middlefield, Ohio 44062.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family to benefit his son, William Joseph “Tubs” Helmuth III.
Willy’s larger-than-life personality, infectious sense of humor, and love for those around him will be deeply missed. Though his time with us was far too short, the memories he created and the love he shared will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
